Why do we need this service? 

As the Foundation was founded as a result of the personal experience of the Directors we are able to bring first hand knowledge and experience to all of our activities. Not only do we provide breaks for children and their families, we try to provide long term support for them too. We were surprised at the number of families who stayed at our properties who were not receiving basic entitlements such as benefits, or were living in unsuitable houses, or had no knowledge of the living aids and/or services which would greatly improve the quality of their life.

•      We are unique in as much as we are the only organisation in the UK that actually does what we do

•       Many organisations, large and small, approach us for help year after year, knowing that they can rely on us for a high standard of service that’s difficult to match elsewhere. 

•       Many organisations concentrate solely on people with a specific disability or illness – we do not discriminate

•       Many places offer respite breaks for the individual – we offer breaks for the whole family and many families appreciate, and benefit from this.

•       Our less formal approach in building a good relationship with families whilst they are using the cottages, and gaining their confidence during their stay often results in them opening up and letting us know what their specific needs are, which in turn enables us to help them more promptly and efficiently.

Many families do not receive their legal entitlements, in areas such as benefits or support, or are unaware of the many living aids, entitlements and support agencies that will improve their quality of life.........simply because they do not know where to start tackling the jumble of red tape.

This is where our Family Support Service team may be able to help unravel it all........!!

This may mean us helping them to sort out benefit or housing enquiries, help to access suitable living aids, or find out about further education, travel problems or whatever, everybody’s needs are different so we try to find the best possible solution for their particular problems at the time.
